In Hindu mythology, it is believed to be a gateway to attain moksha. The pilgrims believe to attain such liberation by undertaking the strenuous journey of Mt. kailash.

Altitude: Lucknow- 123m, Nepalgunj- 153m
Distance: 225km (5hours) From Rupadiha border to Nepalgunj 6km

You will arrive at Lucknow. You will let us know in advance about your arrival details. The driver will reach before you to take to the respective hotels. From Lucknow, you will be driving to Nepalgunj covering a distance of 225 km. The highway that it will taking to Nepalgunj is not so good in condition. It may take more than 5 hours to reach. On the drive, you will be enchanted with the scenic beauty of the places around you. You will be checking into hotel. In the evening, you can roam around the city. This city is located in Banke district on the Terai plains. If you are shopaholic, then you can go to the local shops for buying goods. You can take rest as well in your room.

Simikot to Hilsa – 25 minutes fly by helicopter
Hilsa to Chinese immigration (Sher) – 10 minutes’ walk

The following morning, you will be going to Nepalgunj airport around 5 am to board your flight to Simikot. It will take around an hour to reach Simikot. This early morning will give you some beautiful sights to look at. You will be flying in between the mountains of Nepal. Mostly, the tourists take this early morning flight due to clear sky. Simikot is the small city located in the Humla district in north western Nepal. This city is perfect for acclimatization purpose. The airport in Simikot is of STOL (short take off and landing) types. Therefore, only small aircraft can reach there. Therefore, the aircraft is of Dornier or Twin otter type which has the capacity to carry only 16 people at a time.
From Simikot, you will be taking the helicopter to reach Hilsa. It is a 25 minutes flight. As compared to early morning to Simikot, you will be flying through the deep river gorges of Karnali. From late morning onwards, the weather deteriorates due to wind. It is the main reason for the early morning flight. We take Euro copter to carry our tourists with luggage of 10kgs at a time. We ask our clients not to carry heavy goods due to lack of space. Our helicopters try to airlift as many group members as required to Hilsa. After reaching Hilsa, you will be driving to Taklakot (Purang). Here you will have to complete the immigration formalities as per the rules and regulations of Chinese government. It is mandatory to cross the border as a complete group. It will take 45 minutes to reach Taklakot from Hilsa. You wil be staying in the guesthouse at Purang.

Taklakot (Purang) is located in the river valley of Sarayu Karnali. It is believed to be the birth place of Buddha, early incarnation. This city was used for trading purpose on early days. As you will be making circumambulation around Mt. Kailash, you should be well aware of the climatic conditions of the mountains. Acclimatization day is there to keep you well accustomed with the climatic conditions of the mountains.

Distance: Taklakot to Lake Mansarovar – 88km (1.5 – 2 hours)

After taking breakfast, you will be getting ready for Lake Mansarovar. As you will be traveling to higher altitude, since the beginning you will feel the steep ascending roads. Till High pass, you will get such ascending roads. This pass lies from the Rakshas Tal. So the name rakshas defines as the devil force. Here King Ravana performed penance for more than 5000 years to Lord Shiva to achieve his boon of immortality.
You will get a halt at Rakshas Tal, where you can take pictures. Gradually we will be driving towards Lake Mansarovar. You will be staying in the guest house located near Chui Gompa monastery. After dropping the luggage, you will be traveling to Lake Mansarovar for taking holy dip in the water. After lunch, you will be taking vehicle for the circumambulation around the lake. The entire circumference of the lake is around 82km. It will take around 2 hours to complete the entire journey.

Distance: Darchen to Yamdwar – 5kms

Today you will be completing the circumambulation around the Mt. Kailash. The journey will start from Yam Dwar. After taking breakfast, you will be departing for Yam dwar (Tarboche). It will require around one and half hour to reach there. In Darchen, you will need to complete little other documentation. For reaching Yam Dwar, you will require another half an hour. You will be boarding the vehicle back for Taklakot.
Distance: Taklakot to Hilsa – 27km (45 minutes)
Hilsa to Simikot (25 minutes flight)
Simikot to Nepalgunj – 1hour flight
Mode of transport: fly till Nepalgunj from then drive either to Lucknow or Kathmandu
The following day you will be travelling back. After the breakfast, you will reach Hilsa. Here, you will be completing the immigration formalities. From there you will be going to Taklakot. Military personnel will be accompanying the group till Hilsa for escorting purpose. In the border, your luggage will be checked again. There is a suspension bridge over Karnali River. You will cross the bridge to enter the territory of Nepal. From there, you will be flying back to Simikot. You will take helicopter to get the flight. Again you will have to take the flight to Nepalgunj. From there you can either fly or drive to Kathmandu. You can also drive towards Lucknow.
