Every year thousands of pilgrims take a spiritual trip to the majestic land of Nepal. The country is considered as the holy land showing conglomeration of different religious shrines. The Buddhist pilgrimage tour in Nepal is quite popular among the travelers who are in constant search of inner peace. The doctrines of Buddhism are dependent mostly on the philosophy of tolerance. The teachings of Lord Buddha always guide the pilgrims to follow the path of peace. In Hinduism, this path is known as the path of liberation or nirvana. Lumbini is believed to be the holiest place located in Nepal. It is the place where Lord Buddha took birth. The pilgrims travel to this sacred land to get the inner peace as a whole.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu

Meal: Only Breakfast

After arriving at Kathmandu, our driver will be present there as per your schedule. You will be dropped at the respective hotel. After reaching there, you will have to complete the official formalities. You will get a proper tour explanation from our end. You will stay overnight in the capital city.

Day 02: Buddhist Sites Tour Around Kathmandu

Meal: Only Breakfast
Distance: Kathmandu to Boudhanath stupa – 5km (20 minutes)
Boudhanath stupa to Swayambhunath stupa – 10 km (35-40 minutes)
Swayambhunath stupa to Durbar Square – 4km (15 minutes)

The following morning, you will be picked up by the driver after breakfast. Today you will be taking a tour of all those Buddhist places located around the capital city.
Boudhanath Stupa: the stupa with a height of 36 meters is Asia’s one of the largest stupas. It is the shrine devoted to the Tibetan Buddhist followers. This stupa is built as the replication of Gyangtse of Tibet in the shape of a mandala. In the 8th century, Licchhavi rulers renovated it for the followers. From the past documents, it is noticed that the stupa is situated on the old trade route to Tibet. Earlier, the merchants offered prayers in the shrine during the time of trading. This Buddhist tour is very popular among the followers.
Swayambhunath Stupa: Located in the northwestern part of the Kathmandu valley, the tourists take a tour of this “monkey temple” for understanding the Buddhists religious faith. It is one of the most pious Buddhist locations in Nepal. More than 2000 years ago, this naturally evolved stupa had come into existence. King Manadeva built this shrine in 460 AD. Swayambhu means “self-existent one”. Even Shiva has been called by this name as well.

Historical Durbar Square Area: It is the historical location that comes under the world heritage sites as listed by UNESCO. In the 3rd century, this historical monument was constructed during the Licchavi period. The temple had been renovated for many times. In early scriptures, the temple was called as Gunapo and Gupo named after the name of the 10th century called Gunakamadev. During the age of Malla kings, the square became the area for the royal palaces. You will find shrines dedicated to different gods.
You will stay overnight at the hotel of Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Namobuddha to Dhulikhel

Meal: Only Breakfast
Distance: Kathmandu to Namobuddha- 42km (1.5hours)
Namobuddha to Dhulikhel – 13km (45 minutes)

After the breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver. Today the guide will also show you the places around you. First, you will halt at Namobuddha. It is one of the most sacred places among the Buddhist followers. This sacred place is located in the southeastern part of the capital city. This site stands out as the symbol of compassion and generosity. You will find the statue of Lord Buddha who was incarnated as the young prince. The prince let the tigress consumed his life to feed its starving cubs.
On the other side of this shrine, you will find the famous monastery of Thrangu Tashi Yangtse. You can trek to the monastery. During the Buddha Purnima and Kartik Purnima, the pilgrims travel to this famous shrine to seek the blessings of the lord. It is now the home of around 250 monks.
After this, you can travel to Dhulikhel. It is a small municipal city that is located near the border of Tibet. It is placed from where you can catch the panoramic glimpse of the mountains located surrounding. At night you will stay in Dhulikhel.

Day 04: Dhulikhel to Kathmandu to Lumbini

Distance: Dhulikhel to Kathmandu- 32km (1.5 hours)
Kathmandu to Lumbini – 1hour flight
Mode of transport: private car then flight

After breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver to drop you at the airport. You will be flying to Lumbini. Historically this place is quite famous among the Buddhist pilgrims, as Lord Buddha took birth in this place. At night you can go for local shopping.

Day 05: Lumbini Buddhist tour

Today you will be going to visit the most important Buddhist pilgrim site in Nepal. You will get proper assistance from the guide as well. Firstly, you will visit the Peace Pagoda.
Peace Pagoda: this Buddhist stupa stands as the symbol of peace. This monument was built to conglomerate the people across religions, castes, a creed to come forward in search of peace. Nichidatsu Fujii, the acclaimed monk from Japan took the initiative of world peace and started building these shrines for world peace purpose.
Lumbini Garden: it is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage shrine located in Rupandehi district of Nepal. The Lord took his birth in this famous place. You will find the shrine dedicated to Mayadevi, mother of Lord Buddha.
Mayadevi temple: it is a Buddhist temple enlisted by UNESCO as the world heritage site. There is a pond adjacent to the temple where queen Mayadevi took bath before giving birth to the lord.
Tara Foundation: it is a nonprofit organization set up for the underprivileged children of Nepal. It is a place where the pilgrims can go and meditate.
Apart from this, you can go to visit the other places like World China Temple, Thai Monastery, Burmese temple, Nepal Buddha Temple, Dharmaswami Buddhist monastery. At night you will stay in Lumbini.

Day 06: Lumbini to Kathmandu

Meal: Only Breakfast
Distance: around the city
Mode of transport: private car then flight

After your breakfast, you will be picked up by the driver to go for other rest of the monuments located around Lumbini. You can also go for local bazaar for shopping purpose. Later you will be dropped at the airport. You will be flying back to the capital city. You will stay overnight over there.

Day 07: Kathmandu sightseeing

Meal: Only Breakfast
Distance: Kathmandu to Bhaktapur – 16 km ( 45 minutes)
Mode of transport: private car

After taking breakfast, the driver will pick you up for the sightseeing purpose. Today you will be going to Bhaktapur.
First, you will start with Bhaktapur Durbar Square where the entire complex square was designed with various temples, palace, statues, and gates. Then you will be going to Nyatapola, esteemed pagoda built in the 17th century. This temple is dedicated to the goddess Siddhi Lakshmi. If you are an ardent lover of architecture, you will be quite amazed at the architectural styles. You can also go to Vatsala Devi temple, dedicated to goddess Durga. In the evening, you will come back to Kathmandu. You can go for local shopping. You will stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 08: Departure

You will be dropped at the airport by our driver to board the homebound flight.
