Rudri means the way how the pilgrims offer their prayers towards the lords along with the chants of Vedas, Upanishads, Shiva Puranas, and many other religious texts. Abhishek pooja is one of the most important events in Pashupatinath temple. As the name suggests, it means the crowning of the lord. In this pooja, a ritual bath is performed on Shiva Lingam. The priests perform this pooja by chanting 200 verses of Rudra. It is believed that Rudra is one of the incarnations of Lord Shiva. Therefore, Rudra Sukta is the main religious texts from which the mantras are being recited during the pooja. With five elixirs or Panchamrit, the pooja attains its completion.
